Designersblock London
2005 September 23 - 26 The Nicholls & Clarke Buildings. Shoreditch High Street. London E1. England
The Nicholls and Clarke building proved a wonderful setting for our 8th London event, situated on the edge of the city of london and the east end. With 46 exhibitors from 14 nations, the intrinsic logic of people sharing experiences from across the world at an occasion like this was underlined. From the arrival of Asobi's 5m 'sofa' (since produced by Keen) during the opening - 30 people gathering to carry it into the building - the performance began. With so many highlights to choose from visitors stayed for hours and returned the next day - New London Glass, Slovenians and Dutch, Koreans and Japanese, Scandinavians, - it was perhaps 2 english boys Staurt Haygarth with his Tide Chandelier and Concrete Blond's concrete wallpaper that produced the most hush and wonder. Notoriously hard to impress editors dubbed it the best show with the best work in town.
