Frankfurt
26th - 30th August 2005 Atelierfrankfurt
Nicolette Naumann the vice president of Frankfurt Messe has long been a fan of Designersblock. She came along to the very first show back in 1998 at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. Since then she has kept tabs on us always with the intention of collaborating. At Designersblock 2004 at the Farmiloes Building in St John Street she announced that she had found us a venue in Frankfurt where we could produce an event alongside her show Tendence Lifestyle.
With around 3,300 exhibitors and 96,000 visitors Tendence Lifestyle is the biggest consumer goods fair in the world.

The Venue
The venue for the first Designersblock in Frankfurt was Atelierfrankfurt a former police headquarters less than 5 minutes walk away from Messe Frankfurt.
The 'Atelierfrankfurt' local culture project was founded in March 2004 with the aim of networking creative disciplines whereby complex circumstances are analysed and criticised, in order to create new shapes, contents and solutions. As a hotbed of experimentation, 'Atelierfrankfurt' brings together the fields of design, film, architecture, theatre, theory, art and music with social, political and social-cultural aspects. The inventory of the individual disciplines is oriented towards the current process of manipulation by the global market, the general financial pressures, the zeitgeist as interpreted by the media and the resulting consumer demand. Thus, the centre not only brings together modern artistic processes, production and presentation but also promotes the exchange of views and ideas between several disciplines.
