London
2003 9.-13. oct at the Tea Building.
Queues around the block for the opening night. Happy Ever After played two sets to welcome visitors in the Foyer. The Irish Furniture design network set up their own vodka bar up on the sixth floor. In the basement we had a tea room, many garden sheds, seminars, workshops and room 10101 from Poke all with the fresh smell of Rob McLeod’s pure grass and water oxygenator machine. The applied conceptuality of the basement was maintained through recycled tables from Smile plastics, Tom Dixon’s natural polymer cups, Contenido Neto from Argentina produced lighting to order from old bottles and recycle for London showed collages. The first designersblock venue with lifts proved very popular with those that don’t do stairs as did the basement come shabeen for evenings. On the ground floor we had Jean Nouvel, Moroso and Kvadrat. Creatmosphere provided decorative lighting in public areas all the way up to the sixth floor. Olof Kolte, Marie Louise Gustaffson, Her House, and Dejana Kabiljo all came back as did Ferrious, Jon Male, Charlotte Karlsen, Liverpool and Manchester Design Initiative who were joined by a collective from the watermark from North East England. The Oculas sported a sleek new white livery, hydraulic doors and computer for visitors to relax in.
