2005, to date

NESTA, National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts, Insight Out: Training programme to recent graduates from Glasgow School of Art entering self-employment. The programme was initially inspired by ‘RISKIT’. Insight Out is confirmed to take place in Glasgow September 2005, with plans for Newcastle and Ulster.

2004

The Scottish Show The Lighthouse, Scotland’s Centre for Architecture Design and the City, invited Designersblock to provide two days of lectures to students and members of their Creative Entrepreneurs Club. On behalf of The Lighthouse, produced The Scottish show, a travelling showcase of work from designers based in Scotland. The show was launched at Designersblock Milano 04, travelled to London in September and returned to Glasgow in February 2005.

Designersblock produced the first London Architecture Biennale in St John Street, Clerkenwell EC1.

‘Interact’ produced by Designersblock for the London Institute at the London College of Printing.The exhibition was designed to ‘mirror’ a major graphics retrospective held at the Barbican and introduced work by a new design generation, selected by leading UK designers.

Selfridges asked us to produce installations in all 17 street level windows of their Oxford Street Store. In partnership with Selfridges, exhibitors were selected from designers from whom Designersblock had drawn proposals. From September to October there was a little Designersblock on Oxford Street. 17 UK & International Exhibitors

Produced the first annual Hidden Art Forum for Mazorca projects at Excel Center London Docklands together with a show of 10 East London designers.

2000

Produced Design Synthesis for Mazorca Projects –at London Metropolitan University. The first event of its kind in London aimed at young designers. Design synthesis analysed strategies used by European Designers to get their ideas into the market. Designersblock developed all course content, selection and invitation of all speakers and took part in lectures and panel discussions. This has remained the model for subsequent years of the Hidden Art Forum.

Founded the company Designersblock and produced first London show at The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane with 36 UK & International Exhibitors.

1997

Founded the company SAME, and in 1998 opened the shop SAME on Brick Lane, East London. Same was a retail environment with an exhibition space spread over 350sqm. Imported and sold furniture, lighting and accessories from Europe and UK. Same closed Feb 2000.
